Simply described, the twin-screw extruder is a machine consisting of two co-penetrating and self-cleaning identical screws which are mounted on shafts and rotate in the same direction in a fixed closed housing called “barrel” . The twin-screw extruders operate continuously with very short residence times.
Key features of Clextral Evolum® extruders:
- Adapted power and speed : according to the product being processed, the extruders are proposed with screw speeds up to 1200 rpm and torque density up to 12 Nm/cm³, allowing to have an installed power perfectly adapted to the users needs
- Optimized temperature control : further extensive R&D work conducted by Clextral, the design of the Evolum® barrel sections provides the best cooling capabilities and allows an accurate control of the temperature profilegrâce à une conception homothétique
Easy scale-up : the Evolum® series has been conceived for a direct volumetric scale-up thanks to its homothetic design
- Patented barrel opening : Clextral proposes a direct hydraulic opening of the barrels to have an access to the screw profile without cumbersome shaft extraction
- Modularity : thanks to its presence in all twin screw extrusion markets, Clextral proposes the widest range of screw elements and barrel design
- Enhanced process control : PLC Fitsys+ controls perfectly the extruder and its ancillaries and interfaces easily with the line supervision
