Clextral has acquired extensive experience and expertise in twin screw extrusion processes applied to composite materials called reinforced long-fibre thermoplastics (LFT, glass fibres cut or in a roving form) for applications in the automotive field, and since 1992 thanks to a collaboration with glass fibre producers and automotive equipment vendors.
The LFT process is a direct process in which the composite dough is made from polymers, glass fibres and additives, subsequently transferred into a compression press and then directly recovered at the extruder output.
